How the work runs
Layout and grade
Everything starts with line, grade and drainage. Where the water goes decides the elevations, and the elevations decide the forms. This is settled on paper and on the ground before any concrete is ordered.
Subgrade and base
Excavation to depth, removal of soft or unsuitable material, base placed and compacted. This is the part of a concrete job nobody sees and the part that decides how the finished work performs in year five.
Forming and reinforcement
Forms set to the elevations and dimensions on the drawings and braced to hold against the pressure of the pour. Reinforcement placed and supported at the specified depth, because steel lying on the subgrade is doing nothing for the slab above it.
Placement and finishing
Concrete placed in a planned sequence, consolidated, screeded, floated and finished to the specified texture. The pour is sized so the finishing keeps pace with the placement rather than chasing it.
Jointing and curing
Control joints cut to the layout and cut on time. Curing to the specification, adjusted for what the weather is actually doing rather than what the calendar says it should be doing.

Do you take both residential and commercial concrete work?
Both. Residential flatwork such as driveways, patios, walks and steps is the day to day work, and small commercial packages are what the business is bidding for and heading toward. The same standards apply to either.
How do I get a price?
Call, or send what you are looking at through the form with the location. For residential work a description and a rough size is usually enough to start. For a commercial package, plans and a bid due date get you a real number rather than a guess.
What actually moves the price on a concrete job?
Quantity is only part of it. Thickness, mix, reinforcement, the condition of what is underneath, how easily a truck can reach the pour, jointing and the finish all move a number. That is why a description and a site produce a real price and a square footage alone produces a guess.
How far in advance should work be scheduled?
Earlier is better, particularly for anything with a fixed completion date. Concrete is weather dependent and labor is committed job by job, so a date reserved in advance is far more reliable than a date requested the week it is needed.
What finishes are available?
Broom, float and trowel finishes are standard and cover most work. Broom is the usual answer outdoors because it holds grip when wet. Decorative and stamped finishes are available where a project calls for one and are worth deciding before forming.
Do you work outside Norfolk?
Yes. Norfolk is the base and work is taken across Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk and out to the Eastern Shore. Anything outside that radius is worth a call, because size and duration decide it rather than distance alone.
